Wine Tasting

The second day was beautiful again, so we went out to Middleburg and visited a winery. It was a little sunny, so Keenan got to sport his adorable hat! In case you didn't notice, there is no limit to the number of adorable Keenan in the Baby Bjorn photos I will take!

Unfortunately, Ben had to work, so he didn't get to come on our adventures, but this is the rest of the group at the winery.

National Arboretum

The first full day in DC was beautiful out so we went to visit the National Arboretum... I think Keenan enjoyed the flowers (if he figured out they were there!)

They had a pretty nice big koi pond too, I think the fish thought if they came to see me I would feed them.

After New York we made our way to Ben and Lori's to visit with the adorable baby Keenan!! We arrived Wednesday night to an adorable new nephew and our favorite DC pup, Daphne.

Unfortunately, Daphne is having a little trouble with CPV and has a new little growth on her lip...Mark and I found it quite entertaining! Sorry Daphne!

Spring Break!

Mark and I started our adventures in New York visiting Chris and Tara... unfortunately my camera was not very active in New York... actually, all I got was our day of kite flying in Central Park. It was a beautiful day and we had lots of fun making the kite go! Mark was the most dedicated.I did my best, but I think it was pretty much Tara's help that got the kite so high!

WOW! I cannot believe the night I had! Mark and I are engaged!!! We went for a picnic on the beach and I had no idea!!! I'm still a bit excited if you couldn't tell... sitting still for long enough to write this post is quite difficult! So here's the ring!!! (sorry I'm not a photographer, you'll have to wait till we see Katy for some good little engagement shots!)

This one is the beautiful box that Mark made to hold the ring! I love it!

This last picture is the amazing view that we had when he popped the question! I tried to take a few others at the beach, but I was a bit too excited, and they didn't really work! whoops!

Ok, no, I don't think I am a terrible teacher...I do think that being a teacher makes me a terrible blogger! So, rather than feel bad about not posting every day and pretending I will do much better I am a bit sad to announce that from now on I'm not going to pretend to post every day. It just isn't happening... and rather than make excuses I'm just going to stop taking the days off. I will still post pictures; however, I'm just going to stop pretending to do it every day! Sorry!
So anyways... Mark and I went to watch the amazing UCLA game on Saturday at Jason and Michelle's and I brought my camera in hopes of getting a picture of their adorable dog, but she was far too excited to let me take her picture, so I got one of these beautiful pomegranate's they got in Greece.

I had lots of work to do today, but Mark was willing to make me dinner so that I would go to the Torrey Pines reserve and admire the wildflowers with him... the flowers were beautiful, but I was even more impressed with the view!

I had a good weekend in Palm Springs, but I also spent a lot of the time doing work...then after work today I came home and graded more papers. It's all pretty exhausting, so when I decided I wanted pizza for dinner, I decided I deserved it! yum!

Even though I was just out here last weekend, I came to Palm Springs to spend some quality time with the family...and of course Herbie! I had lots of grading to do this weekend... but fortunately Herbie was happy to help!

Today we are going out to Palm Springs for a birthday party weekend with my buds from Davis... I am not bringing my computer because I spent all last night getting ahead so that I would not have any work to do over the weekend...and bringing my computer would only tempt me to do work. Sooo... Day 241:
Tonight we had mom over for dinner and I exposed her to the tofu-tastic side of life! FIRST we had delicious (if I do say so myself) fettuccine alfredo that had NO cream or butter because it was made with tofu...and don't make that face mom and Mark loved it! Then for dessert I made this chocolate pie...the catch? The filling isn't chocolate with cream...it's chocolate and tofu...and it's super tasty! If you don't believe just ask me to make it for you some time!

Thanks to mom for delivering my abandoned camera! I know I did not post last week... I have been swamped! I am excited with all of the new responsible I have being in charge of all of my classes...but unfortunately it has had a poor effect on my blogging. I try to at least take some time on the weekend to just relax! This weekend after Mark and I had dinner together our friends came over for some pool... fun Saturday night.

Believe it or not I actually did take a few pictures this weekend, and then I left my camera at my parent's house because I was there dog-sitting! Whoops! So not only did not take any pictures last week because I have been preparing to fully take over all four of my classes and trying not to go a bit crazy.... but now I don't have my camera to use the pictures I took this weekend, terrible right? Anyways... I will try to get my camera back and make myself post some pictures!

Tonight Mark and I went to see Sia at the Belly Up... I love her! If you haven't ever heard her, you really should she's this tiny little lady with the most amazing voice... it's awesome.
I didn't want to bring my big camera, so I brought Mark's little guy, but the flash is dead on it, so rather than actually take any pictures of things I decided to play with making heart shapes out of the lights with a super slow shutter speed.

Tonight Mark and went to the San Diego Symphony with Jason and Michelle and saw an amazing show called "Symphony Exposed." The music was all composed to go with an art exhibition and it was absolutely amazing, you could really hear the paintings that they showed on the screen come to life with the music.
Seeing as you cannot take photos in the symphony I decided to showcase my amazing orange peeling skills...which, as you guessed... has nothing to do with it!
This weekend we will be in Dallas for my cousin's wedding... so although I will not be posting until I come home Sunday I will be bringing my camera along!

Our bedroom has bugged me pretty much since we painted it blue and ended the decorating there... it just has never looked finished. So today I am attempting to figure out what it is about the room that just never looked right, and while doing so I come upon this little guy. For those of you who may not know, one of the first things that brought Mark and I together was a little game of animal making, where we take a little piece of paper and crumple it into the shape of some kind of animal and then try to guess what the other one just made. So the first gift that Mark ever gave me was an origami duck that took him a few hours to make.

Thank you thank you to my parents for my fabulous Christmas gift...my camera is back! No more excuses, I'm so excited to have it back!
Today Mark and I hung up his biggest present from me... it's the view from the condo in Maui, painted from a picture that we took on our last fabulous Hawaii trip last year. I had to put two pictures, so you could actually see the painting and see where we actually put it in the house. I think Mark was pleased, if not super surprised... I think he may have guessed it was a painting when I was working on his home-made present for over a month at my parent's house.

This weekend we went out to Palm Springs in celebration of Chris and Tara's engagement, I took this first photo the first night we were out there. Most of the time I beef up the photos a little bit to add some more vibrant color, but I didn't do a thing to this one because I thought the colors in the skyline were already perfect.

I haven't done any flower pictures lately, and I think the cactus looks pretty sweet... it's so perfectly Palm Springs!

Emma kindly pointed out to me today that I never put up a picture of the finished bathrooms! After a long day of Christmas shopping (such a chore! hehe) and coming home to a bunch of homework I was pleased to have an excuse to just photograph inside the house. I had a 10 pg research paper due yesterday morning, a 20 min. presentation Friday night, and to top it all off I had to take the CSET yesterday afternoon...but now that is all done! We spent the weekend in New Jersey for Mark's cousin's wedding but we actually ended up popping back and forth between New Jersey and New York. We got lunch in Piermont and went on a nice little walk around the Hudson.

We started our vacation in North Carolina with Mark's parents, I loved their weather vein because we don't have too many of these in San Diego.

We don't have much in the way of a front porch either.

We spent some hours at the beach and Mark and Charles spent some quality time playing with their paddle ball.
San Diego may be more well known for our sunsets, but I think this North Carolina one can certainly hold its ground.

I know, terrible... it's been a crazy week! Soon I will have good pictures though when Mark and I go on our long trip out to the East Coast!

Day 162:

Mark and I went to Art Splash yesterday, it was a little sad because all of the awesome chalk art had been washed away by the rain. This woman was sculpting a girl who was sitting in front of her, it was pretty impressive. I would have posted yesterday, but our internet was not getting along with us.

Day 161:

Mark and I went for a little stroll tonight before we made dinner... it looked these kids had a need to finish up their game fast before those clouds rolled in!

Day 160:

Today was not super eventful, I had to stay home for most of the morning breathing in toxic fumes while the shower was re-done, followed by a few errands, a workout, and class. Soooo the result of such a day is another bathroom teaser shot! This is beautifully re-surfaced shower wall.

Day 158:

Tonight Mark and I went and had dinner at the beach at sunset... it was a gorgeous sunset, but this was still my favorite picture. Plus, it's been a while since I posted a self portrait.

Approximately day 161:

This week has been CRAZY, we got back from our trip Sunday night and this week we had a contractor in the house all week doing the new bathrooms, I started all my new schools for work, and today I took the CSET for English...Whew! Unfortunately in light of all that I was a terrible blogger, but I promise I shall do better now that all that craziness is over! Mark won't let me post a full bathroom picture until we've had the showers refinished and you can see it in it's full glory, so for now here's a tiny little teaser from one of the bathrooms, they look so good!

Lots of Days:

Before I begin, I must admit that Mark and I were sharing the camera, so these were not all my pictures I just don't remember who took what. Ok, so picking one picture a day from this trip seemed impossible, so I've done my best to pick my favorites and we will start from day 1 and work up... these first few shots are from Morro Bay at the beach just off our campsite.

From Morro Bay we kept going up the coast and stopped off at a view point with elephant seals!

Next we made our way to Big Sur, it was amazing! This first shot is from Limekiln national park, where we camped the first night in Big Sur. The waterfall was just at the end of a short little hike.

This tree was also on that hike, I'm a sucker for trees made in to faces, hehe this guy even has hair coming off the top!

The next campsite was pretty crazy, it was Julia Pfieffer park in Big Sur. They only have two campsites in the park and you have take take a little hike with all your stuff to get there, but the view was well worth it!

After Big Sur it was off to Yosemite! I was pretty scared of encountering some bears, but instead we just saw countless deer, and those I was quite happy to see.

The second day we made the hike up to Vernal Falls, that was breathtaking, the pictures can't do it justice. We took a little spur trail that went right up to the bottom of the falls, but unfortunately without a wide angle lens our best shots were from higher up.

Later that day we went to the giant sequoia grove, if you look really hard you can see me at the bottom of this picture, I'm about the size of the fence if you can find that... just to give you an idea of just how enormous this tree really is.

The last thing we did in Yosemite was go to the top of Glacier Point and watch the sunset reflecting on half dome. Unfortunately the way the sun was setting it was casting a pretty big shadow across the valley, but the view was still pretty impressive. Obviously I did not take this one, there were some nature photographers camped out up there and one was kind enough to snap this for us.

Day 155:

Tonight Mark started packing for the big camping trip... doesn't this sleeping bag pad look like fabulous bed for the next week?? Be prepared for the blog to be on pause until a week from monday, I'm not brining my laptop to brave the elements with me.

Day 154:

Tonight Mark and I went to Home Depot to get paint for the bathrooms since the actual project will start as soon as we get back from our trip! Yay! While we were out we decided to stop at a favorite new little spot... a self serve frozen yogurt place... soo tasty with little cookie doughs!

Day 153:

Ok, so life didn't really hand me these lemons, I actively sought them out to make lemonade... but having had a rather stressful few days lately figuring out all of the hoops I have jump through before I can teach it seemed appropriate.

Yesterday at Disneyland Katy was talkin' about the banana smoothies she used to drink when we were little and it sounded mighty tasty, so I decided to put that almost bad one to use!

Day 150:

Mark got his new laptop the other day...he looks like quite the supernerd when he plays with both at the same time. Hehe.

Day 149:

Today was a long day, I left home at 8:00 am to go to work and then went straight from work to school until 9:30 pm and when I got home at ten I still picked up my weights and took on my new workout plan... quite pleased with myself. I just thought it was funny how much my little hand weights look like the bananas I posted yesterday.

Today Mark and I both went to the store... I guess we should have discussed this earlier because a whole bunch of bananas isn't the only thing we both got... whoops!
